The Shortwave Shindig is a live multi-hour immersion into the wavering, noisy sonics of the shortwave radio spectrum. Everyday, we stride through a stew of signals, our bodies humming imperceptibly along to a riot of ouds, harmoniums, preachers, propaganda, secret messages, squawks, tones, and beeps. We lack only only the transistors and diodes to be able to decode them.

A bank of receivers and reels of archival audio are on hand, deciphering the distant, elusive sounds of the shortwave bands. Extended, multi-layered audio mixes combine real time and archival shortwave sounds that take the listener on a guided tour through the atmospheric neighborhoods where shortwave stations cluster.
